Effectively Using Dashboards

BY David Costin - Solutions Architect
August 3, 2016

Effectively using DashboardsWhen I volunteered to write a blog on dashboards, the first thoughts that popped to mind were - who is the audience, what should I cover and how long should it be?

Opinions on blog length and content vary widely… So why did I mention that in a blog about dashboards? Because many people take the same approach to running their business.

Why I Made The Move To Mobile Access

BY webmaster
June 24, 2015

I’ve been a Maximizer user for a number of years now, and in that time I’ve used the Windows application and Web Access, but I’ve never really been a user of the wireless options. Well, with the recent release of Maximizer CRM 12 Winter 2012, I decided that maybe it was time to give Maximizer Mobile Access another chance. All I can say is that I wish I’d done this a year ago.

The Details Tab – A New Look For Address Book Entries

BY webmaster

Earlier this year, I upgraded to the brand-new Maximizer CRM 12 Winter 2012. The new version saw a lot of changes, but as a long-time Web Access user the biggest change that I noticed in the new version is definitely the updated interface in the Address Book page. I have to admit, I was skeptical at first, when I clicked on an Address Book entry I no longer got my familiar Address Book dialog to show me the contact details. Well, having used the new interface for a while now, I can say without hesitation that I’m a huge fan. It has changed the way I interact with Maximizer, and is saving me heaps of time in the routine tasks that I do day-to-day.

I've been using Maximizer on a daily basis for years now and there are still features in it that I've barely scratched the surface of.

GooglePlus_ProfileImageThe new Details tab introduced in Maximizer CRM 12 Winter 2012 brought some big changes to the Address Book page in Maximizer Web Access and Maximizer CRM Live. The Details tab has streamlined the workflow for editing basic information for your Address Book entries. But at the same time, it has also raised the profile and importance of Key Fields lists. With this new interface it is important to make sure that your Key Fields are set up properly so that you get the most from the new design.

Keyboard Navigation In Maximizer Web Access

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageBack in the days when I primarily used Maximizer Windows Access, I was a heavy user of the keyboard shortcuts in Maximizer. Especially for things like data entry, being able to control the application solely with the keyboard was lot faster than switching back-and-forth between keyboard and mouse.

But as is the case with most web-based applications that I’ve used, now that I’ve switched to using Maximizer Web Access as my primary Maximizer client, I rely much more on my mouse for getting around in the application. However, there are still a few keyboard shortcuts that I use to speed up my interaction with the software.

Preventing Duplicate Entries In Maximizer’s Outlook Sync

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageFrom time to time I get questions over at the Maximizer CRM Support Community from users who have run into problems with duplicate entries in their Maximizer Address Books. More often than not, these duplicates have been caused by a mixup when using Maximizer's Outlook Synchronization.

Duplicate entries are a headache that nobody wants to have to deal with, but when you're synchronizing data across multiple applications, duplication of data is always a possibility. However, if you are aware of a couple of common pitfalls, duplicate data is a problem you can avoid. As they say, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure, and in this case it couldn't be more true.

Three Ways To Send A Mail Merge In Maximizer

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageIf you work in a customer-facing role chances are you’ve done a mail merge at one time or another. Lets face it, nobody wants to type the same letter twice, so why not just use a single template and swap out the names, right? Well, if you're a Maximizer user, it's easy to do just that and to send merged mailings to your Maximizer contacts.

Now, for things like mass mailings or marketing initiatives where you need to track detailed metrics like open counts or clickthrough rates, you’ll want to harness the full power of Maximizer’s Campaign module. But what about those times when you just need to send out a simple letter or email to a couple of contacts? Here are a few ways that you can quickly and easily do one-off mail merges in Maximizer.

New In Summer 2013: Auto-Suggest For Mobile Access Quick Search

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageNobody likes typing on a smartphone. Sure, you can do it, but if you don’t have to, why would you ever want to? This is part of the reason behind one of the new features in Maximizer Mobile Access for Maximizer CRM 12 Summer 2013: Quick Search Auto-Suggest.

As I've said before, one of my favorite new features in Mobile Access is the Quick Search that was introduced in Maximizer CRM 12 Winter 2012. In my opinion it is the fastest and most useful search feature in Mobile Access. And this new auto-suggest feature just makes it better.

New In Summer 2013: Power Up Your Maximizer Search Catalog With Parameterized Searches

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageThe Search Catalog is one of my most frequently-used tools in Maximizer. I rely every day on a carefully curated collection of saved searches to build the various lists that I use throughout my day-to-day daily routine. So I’m really excited about a new feature in Maximizer CRM 12 Summer 2013 which will allow me to squeeze even more utility out of my search catalog.

With this new feature, you can have your saved searches prompt you for the values you want to use for the search parameters each time you retrieve a search from your catalog in the Address Book, Customer Service, and Opportunties modules. This way, your existing searches can do double-duty, and a single search can do the job of many.

New In Summer 2013: Enforce Your Business Rules With Dependent UDFs In Maximizer

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageOne of the things that makes Maximizer such a versatile CRM solution is the ease with which it can be customized. By creating custom user-defined fields (UDFs) you can personalize Maximizer to fit the needs of just about any organization or business unit. Any attribute or tidbit of information you can think of that you'd like to store about your contacts, you can create a UDF for it.

But one piece of this puzzle that has always been missing for me is some way to enforce business rules for your UDFs by ensuring that they get set for your entries when, and only when they need to be, and ensuring that relationships between the values in different fields are maintained. Well, thanks to one of the new features in the upcoming Maximizer CRM 12 Summer 2013, you'll soon be able to do just that.

New In Summer 2013: Personalize Your Key Fields Lists In Maximizer

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageCustomizing your view of information in Maximizer is something I’ve talked about again and again on this blog. So it should probably come as no big surprise that one of the new features I’m most excited about in the upcoming Maximizer CRM 12 Summer 2013 release is designed to make it easier for your to do just that.

In my opinion, your CRM software is only as valuable as the information you can get out of it, so it is important to invest some time and thought in setting it up to give you exactly the information you need. In Maximizer, Key Fields lists are an important part that puzzle, as they ensure that the most important fields for your entries are always readily accessible.

New In Summer 2013: Improved Rolling Date Range Searches

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageMaximizer’s search catalog functionality is something I’ve talked about over and over again on this blog. The search catalog is one of my most frequently-used features, and in my opinion, is one of the best tools in Maximizer for filtering out the information you need from your CRM data.

In the recent Maximizer 12 Summer 2013 release, Maximizer’s search catalog saw a number of improvements one of which, parameterized searches, I’ve discussed here before. Another boost that the search catalogs has received is an expansion of the rolling date ranges available when searching on a date field.

New In Summer 2013: Hyperlink User-Defined Fields

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImage

Over the past few weeks I've been talking about some of the new features in Maximizer CRM 12 Summer 2013. I wanted to continue the series by talking about the new hyperlink user-defined field (UDF) feature.

In the new Summer 2013 release, alphanumeric UDFs in Maximizer now have a "Display as a hyperlink" option. This option, when selected, will treat the values in the UDF as a hyperlink, and will allow you to click the value for an entry to open the link in your browser.

New In Summer 2013: Multiple Email Identities For Users

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageOne of the new features in the recently-released Maximizer CRM 12 Summer 2013 is one that I've felt has been missing for some time now. Until now, it has never been possible to have more than one email address associated with your Maximizer user account. This was a bit of a headache for those of us who have more than one email identity.

If you're like me and perform multiple roles within your organization, chances are you have more than one email address that you use for different purposes. Maybe you have one email address that you use for communicating with your customers and leads and a different email address for communicating with your suppliers and vendors.

New in Summer 2013: More Options To Help Keep Your Address Book Organized

BY webmaster

GooglePlus_ProfileImageDigital clutter. Let’s face it, we’re all guilty of allowing a little bit of it in our lives now and again. I, for one, have a Windows desktop covered with files and other random downloads from months ago that I’ve long since forgotten about. For the most part it’s pretty benign, but if you let it get out of hand it can really start to impact your productivity.

Duplicate copies of data in different locations, disorganized or miscategorized data, and outdated information all contribute to making it harder to stay on top of your business. And keeping your Address Book data organized and updated is just as important. That’s why Maximizer CRM 12 Summer 2013 added some new tools to help you keep your Maximizer Address Book organized.
