SSL provides a mechanism to verify the identity of an internet client and/or server, and to encrypt the messages sent between them. Thus it can be used to provide authentication and confidentiality for web services that run directly between a client and a server. It uses a public key infrastructure (PKI) system based on digital certificates. Learn more about SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Security protocol for internet communications.
