Maximizer Enterprise 8 Service Release 1 - Series 1425
Released on June 28th, 2004

Type of Release: Service Release
PSN Prefix: N/A
Files Modified: Not available

Changes:

New Features and Issue Fixes as noted below, as well as all issues resolved in Maximizer Enterprise 8 Hot Fix 1 - Series 1409 and Maximizer Enterprise 8 Hot Fix 2 - Series 1420.

New and Improved Features from Maximizer Enterprise 8 - Series 1404:
Sales:
  • Updated Accounting Link Designed for use with QuickBooks: The Accounting Link now supports converting an estimate into an invoice and modifying existing estimates, invoices, and purchase orders. Accounting notes security has been added.

  • Updated Notify Partner of Assigned Address Book Entries and Opportunities: A note is attached to the Address Book entry or Opportunity to record the email notification.

Marketing:

  • Automated Campaigns Display Number of Subscribers: The Subscribers tab of Automated Campaigns displays the number of subscribers to the campaign.

Web Portals:

  • Advanced Portals Configuration Using the Web.Config File: Each portal, Employee, Partner, Customer, and Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs, has its own XML-formatted Web.Config file, which is stored in the root folder for each portal (e.g. C:\Program Files\Maximizer\Portals\portal name\Web.Config). The Web.Config file can be edited using any text editor, such as Notepad.

  • Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs: The new Maximizer Enterprise 8 Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs ensures that your Maximizer Enterprise CRM data is available through the wireless HTML-enabled browser on your PDA device. The Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs enables you to securely access your critical customer details and appointments and carry out your day-to-day tasks without having to synchronize or install extra software on your PDA device. All in real time.

  • Employee Portal Login Options: By default, a Maximizer Enterprise user can log in to the Employee Portal or Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs associated with any Address Book to which they have access. An administrator can now ensure that all Maximizer Enterprise users, or a subset of users, can only log in to a particular Address Book.

  • Employee Portal New Features:
    • View and select a Favorite list from the Address Book's View menu
    • All Maximizer system-defined fields (such as 'IDentification' and 'Account Manager') and user-defined fields (UDFs) are available for display in Key Fields on the Address Book entry dialog
    • Email notification to the selected Partner when a Partner is added to an Address Book entry or Opportunity
    • Checkbox to mark Appointments and Tasks as completed is added to all Appointment and Task lists
    • Appointment's Location field allows free-form text entry and includes an entry for the current calendar user's office
    • Calendar performs conflict-checking when an Appointment is added and displays a conflict notification message
    • Search in range of dates for all Address Book entry-related date-type basic fields and UDFs
    • The new Address Book Hook enables customization of the ASP.NET-based Employee Portal and the Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs

  • Partner and Customer Portals New Features:
    • Email notification to partner of a new News story posted on the Partner Portal that matches the partner's News preferences setting
    • Opportunities and Customer Service Cases can display selected UDFs
    • Opportunity UDFs can be modified during Opportunity edit, while Customer Service Case UDFs can only be viewed, not modified, when viewing a Case.
    • Customer Service Cases can be added by Partners or Customers
    • Customer Service Cases can display 'All Cases' (an option - use carefully - that the user can use to display every case in the Address Book for collaborative projects) as well as 'My Cases' and 'My Company's Cases'
    • Partners and Customers can specify their 'Do not solicit by' preferences

  • Portal Administrator Application New Features:
    • Configuration Manager enables the administrator to specify the UDFs that display on the UDF tab in Opportunities and Customer Service Cases
    • Administrator can specify the default 'Origin' and 'Queue' for all new Customer Service Cases added in the Partner and Customer Portals
    • Additional News preferences to enable sending News notifications to partners that have requested News notifications, and to specify the 'From' and 'Message body' text that will be sent with the abstract of the News item

Communications:

  • Email and Print/Fax Services Run as Applications on Windows XP Pro: Due to operating system issues the email and print/fax services now run as applications on Windows XP Professional.

  • Improved TAPI Incoming Phone Number Matching: Maximizer Enterprise TAPI functionality features improved incoming phone number identification (using the number provided by the phone system's Caller ID functionality) to ensure that appropriate phone numbers will match even if dialling codes, country codes and area codes are missing in one or both numbers. TAPI matching now uses either the new, configurable exact match functionality, or the improved, existing smart match functionality.

  • Save Copy of Email to Notes and Documents: All methods of sending an email respect the email logging preferences and can save the sent email to documents or in the note. However, only the 'Send Email' command on the File and Context menus displays the Send Email dialog.

  • Send Document in Word and WordPerfect Includes 'Ignore Leads' Option: The Maximizer merge field function 'Send Document' now enables the user to select the 'Ignore Leads' option to ensure the document is not sent to Address Book entries that are leads.

Calendar:

  • Free-form Location: The Location drop-down list allows the user to enter text describing a location that is not in the list. Note that this text entry is not saved to the Location drop-down list. The Location drop-down also includes a new default location named "'s office", where is the display name of the current Calendar user.

  • Suppress Follow-Up Activity Prompt: Suppress follow-up activity now applies to all task types and appointments. Prior to Service Release 1 the Suppress follow-up dialog only applied to Phone tasks.

Address Book:

  • Address Book Entry Dialog Interface Update: Copy button added to the view dialog to enable the user to copy 'Company address' data. The user can copy the entire address or only selected text, and the text format is preserved in the destination location.

  • Improved Favorite List Management: Users can modify existing Favorite lists by adding or removing the current, selected, or all Address Book entries. Favorite list Properties now include Owner, enabling users to assign Favorite lists to particular groups of users, and Description.

  • Most Recently Used Favorite Lists on View Menu: The View menu displays the 'Recent Favorite Lists' submenu, which displays the most recent Favorite lists that have been retrieved in the current or previous Maximizer Enterprise sessions.

  • 'IDentification' Field Available in Key Fields: The 'IDentification' field is available for selection by the administrator to the Key fields group.

  • New Pervasive Database Address Book Startup Options: Users who log into any Maximizer Enterprise 8 CRM Pervasive address book, who have not yet set a start-up default, can select from two new Address Book opening lists: all lead entries and all non-lead entries.

User-Defined Fields:

  • All Characters Allowed in UDF, Folder and Table Item Names: Apostrophes and all other alphanumeric characters, except for '/' and '\', are now allowed in UDF, folder, and table item names.

  • All Characters Allowed in UDF, Folder and Table Item Names: Apostrophes and all other alphanumeric characters, except for '/' and '\', are now allowed in UDF, folder, and table item names.

  • UDF Performance Improvements: UDF loading has been significantly improved for better performance when switching to a UDF view with many UDFs and/or UDF folders. This includes Address Book column setups that contain UDFs, the UDF following window refresh on selecting a different Address Book entry, and the Address Book entry dialog (View and Edit modes).

  • UDF Tree View Improvements: Users can select multiple UDFs and UDF folders and move them as a group, in Maximizer Enterprise as well as in the Administrator.

  • User-Ordering and Renaming of SDFs Enabled: System defined fields (SDFs) and system folders, which are typically used in Maximizer Enterprise automatic processes, can be ordered and renamed by the user. The SDF and system folder original system names are appended to the modified names within square brackets. This ensures that the original meaning for each renamed SDF or system folder is maintained.

  • User-Ordering of UDFs and Table Items Updated: UDF table items can have a user-specified sort order.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Enhanced Security for Report Viewing: For reports created using Crystal Reports, users are only allowed to view reports that do not contain information related to a module to which the user does not have Read rights.

Administration:

  • Accounting Access Rights and Notes Security: Accounting security includes access to Accounting functionality and the security of Accounting notes.

  • Key Fields Preferences Page for Administrator Module: 'Key User-Defined Fields' have been renamed 'Key Fields'.

Integration and Customization:

  • Address Book Hook for Employee Portal and Wireless Employee Portal: The new Address Book entry hook, implemented for both the Employee Portal and the Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs, enables programmers to replace or extend the actions that Maximizer Enterprise takes when users add or modify Address Book entries using one of the portals. This includes presenting a custom Address Book entry dialog window.

  • Customization Suite Portal Guide Updated: The Customization Suite Portal Guide has been updated with all the information needed by business partners and third-party developers to customize and publish the Maximizer Enterprise 8 eCRM web portals.

  • Improved ODBC Driver Support: The following tables can now be accessed using the ODBC driver:
    • Partner details (Table: ABPartner; Field: Partner in Company, Individual and Contact)
    • User roles (Roles included in the User_Details Table)
    • Case UDFs (Combined_CSCase_User_Fields and S_UDFNAME)
    • Campaign Subscribers (CampaignAccounts)
    • Client Lead Status (U_LEAD_STATUS)
    • Opportunity Partners (OPPPARTNERS)

  • Updated Supported Products and Applications: The Maximizer Software Inc. website provides the most up-to-date list of supported products and applications. The web address is http://www.maximizer.com/support/products.html.

Installation & Licensing:

  • MaxExchange Default License Change: MaxExchange includes a single user license by default, which enables administrators to configure a single-user MaxExchange remote site during Maximizer Enterprise installation without any additional administrative action.

  • Multi-User Remote Licenses Synchronized: Maximizer Enterprise user licenses are synchronized so that the site's concurrent user license count is equal to the sum of all user licenses enabled across all remote sites. This permits users to move from one site to another without having to modify the new site's license count.

  • Remote Workstation Local Data Folder Option: The administrator can select a local data folder for most remote workstations during installation.

  • Single Accounting Link Installation for US and Canadian Editions of QuickBooks: The Maximizer Accounting Link Designed for Use with QuickBooks works with both US and Canadian editions of QuickBooks. Separate installs depending on the national edition of QuickBooks are not required.

  • Trial Licensing: Maximizer Enterprise CRM Pervasive WorkGroup Trial version does not require a trial Product Serial Number (PSN). If no PSN is entered (or a trial PSN is entered - it is no longer required, but can still be entered), Maximizer Enterprise is automatically configured as a Trial version during installation for 30 days of use.

General Improvements:

  • 'Description' Field Added to More Record Types: Documents and Templates now have Description fields. This enables users to determine the contents of the document and the purpose of the template without opening, or if you don't have the associated application.

  • Merge Fields in Word and WordPerfect Support Long Names: UDF merge fields that have particularly long names or feature several levels of folders are now displayed in full in the Insert Merge Field dialog's new field name text box. The Insert Merge Field dialog has been updated for both Word and WordPerfect merge functionality.

  • Updated Overview Page: Tasks and Appointment activities can be completed on the Overview page, using the new completed checkbox. Print buttons have been added to print each section independently.

Issues Fixed:

  • Error restoring an Address Book in Pervasive: Error Code 25 on the Transaction Control file would occur while restoring a Pervasive Address Book.

  • Documents not displayed properly in the Documents window: When adding a new Maximizer document using a template and setting the Owner to "MYUSERNAME", the document appeared in the Documents window; however, it disappeared after a refresh to the window.

  • Incorrect Close Date being displayed in Opportunity: The close date was not properly displayed in the Status tab of an opportunity or in the Opportunity Column Setup view. It always showed the projected Close Date instead.

  • Merge Field not working for Automated Campaigns: The "Name_and_Address" merge field did not work for Automated Campaign's activities.

  • Slow when adding manual orders: Adding manual orders in an Address Book that contains a large number of orders would take a long time.

  • Search by All Phone Numbers Issue: Search by All Phone Numbers failed to retrieve the correct records.

  • Auto-signature not displayed properly: The Auto-signature did not have carriage returns when composing e-mail messages as HTML.

  • Sending email did not work using Outlook 2002: When attempting to send packets to an email Remote using Outlook 2002, the email would fail to send. This issue has been resolved in MaxExchange.

  • Address Book Folder Maintenance did not go off at the scheduled time: Previously, if you set a certain day of the week and time for the Address Book Folder Maintenance to go off when running MaxExchange as an application, when that time was reached, it would not start. It now obeys the time rule.

  • UDF synchronization problems: In some scenarios, Table UDFs, Table Items and/or the selected Table Item for some Address Book and Opportunity entries did not synchronize correctly. The Address Book Verification Tool in Administrator should be run, followed by a Refresh to any affected Remotes.

  • Synchronization Problems of Notes added via the Employee Portal: Notes entered through the Employee portal do not synchronize successfully to MaxExchange remotes and do not display the correct creator ID.

  • Wrong icons appearing in the Customer Portal's Icon Bar: The Opportunity and Leads sections were incorrectly appearing in the Customer Portal's icon bar.

  • Error when opening the Customer Service component: An error would sometimes happen when opening the Customer Service component from the Customer Portal's icon bar.

  • Search Field list not displayed properly: In the Employee Portal, the incorrect list of search fields would appear in the Customer Service component.

  • Portals license issue: Could not apply the correct number of licenses if using the Maximizer Portals.

  • ODBC driver not appearing in the list: If the user installed Maximizer Enterprise 8 on a clean machine (without any previous version of Maximizer on that machine) for the first time, the "Maximizer ODBC Driver" and "Pervasive ODBC..." drivers would not show up in the 'ODBC Data Source Administrator>Drivers' list.

  • ODBC driver truncating UDF table items: If the UDF table item has more than 29 characters, ODBC driver would truncate it to 29 characters.

  • Missing information when creating a QuickBooks Customer/Vendor: If we had an individual entry with no company name when we added this entry as QuickBooks Customer/Vendor, the Company field in the Add QuickBooks Customer or Vendor dialog was blank and the user had to enter some information manually to this field (proper message prompted if left blank). This issue has been resolved and the company field is populated with the first name, middle name and last name as the default values.

  • MTI's flag not working properly: The MTI functionality for flag 128 when UDF duplicate checking was performed did not work.

Notes:

  • Service Release 1 Includes All Hot Fix 1 and 2 Fixes: Maximizer Enterprise 8 Service Release 1 also includes the fixes for all issues resolved in Hot Fix 1 - Series 1409 and Hot Fix 2 - Series 1420.

  • Running Service Release 1 in Mixed Modes: Maximizer Enterprise 8 Service Release 1 has no database changes and can be used safely in a mixed mode of servers and workstations, as well as MaxExchange Synchronization remote servers and remote workstations, running a combination of the original Maximizer Enterprise 8 release and Maximizer Enterprise 8 Service Release 1.

  • Reinstalling the Service Release 1 Patch: If you have to reinstall the Maximizer Enterprise 8 Service Release 1 Patch, you must uninstall the patch before it can be applied again. Use the Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel to uninstall the patch.

  • MaxExchange Synchronization Server Updates: This patch applies to Maximizer Enterprise and MaxExchange Remote only. Install MaxExchange Server 8 Service Release 1 for updates to MaxExchange Synchronization Server and MaxExchange Remote Synchronization Server.

  • New Wireless Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs: This patch does not include the new Wireless Employee Portal for Wireless PDAs. This functionality is only available with the Maximizer Enterprise 8 (Includes Service Release 1) - Series 1425 full release.
