It's easy for a Developer to create a skin from an existing HTML file using the ecSkin Creator tool. The ecSkin Creator reads any HTML file that uses tables to control the page layout, and allows the Developer to place the ecBuilder skin components into any of the page's table cells. The objective here is to capture an existing Web site, imbed the main ecBuilder generated elements / components, and save this single file as an ecBuilder Skin for use with the ecBuilder Developer's Edition templates.

The New ecSkin Creator
There are three components that make up a site design in ecBuilder: a class, template, and skin.

Getting Started
Clicking on the Create Skin button located on the Site Design and Preview screen opens up the ecSkin Creator tool. |

Adding Tags
The ecSkin Creator adds borders and numbers to each of the HTML table cells in the HTML page in order for the Developer to identify each of the cells, and hence assist them in deciding where and how they would like to add each set of element/component tags.

Saving Your Skin
Once the Developer has placed all of the Skin components into the different wizard screens, they will create a short descriptive name for the new Skin folder and it's contents.

Further Customization
If after creating the Skin using ecSkin Creator, the Developer wishes to manually edit the skin.xsl file or any of the other component files in order to fine-tune the layout, they may do so by editing the xsl files directly with any text or HTML editor and saving the file back into the appropriate directory.
