There are three components that make up a site design in ecBuilder: a class, template, and skin. Following is a definition of each:
-
Class - typically used to classify a set of templates with similar attributes. In most cases, a set of templates in a class have a number of similar or identical files because of the templates' inherent similarity. By default, there is one predefined class of templates called "ecBuilder Templates". You can always use this class or create your own. The class to which a template belongs is declared in the template's INI file. Typically, templates in the same class are located under the same folder, but it is not required.
-
Template - the template determines the arrangement of the body content of the site. Each template consists of several XSL files, an INI file, and the supporting images. Each template is stored in its own folder.
-
Skin - defines the look of the surrounding area of the Web site pages. Specifically, the skin defines the structure of the page, the background image used, and the look of the header, footer, and navigation. Each skin consists of a Skin.xsl file, supporting XSL files, additional images, and an icon for the wizard interface. Skins are stored in their own folder directly under the template's folder.
