Advanced Security Requirements
If you wish to create a Web site that will facilitate real-time credit card transaction processing using ecBuilder, the merchant will first have to obtain a working merchant account with one of the real-time transaction providers supported by the product. For a complete list of those providers, see the Getting Assistance section at the end of this document.
The merchant will also have to obtain and install an "E-mail Client Digital Certificate" or "Personal Digital Certificate" on the merchant computer where Maximizer is installed. It is the responsibility of the merchant to ensure that the "E-mail Client Digital Certificate" is valid and has not expired. This type of certificate is available free of charge from Thawte. A merchant may also obtain this type of certificate from other providers, such as Verisign, at an approximate cost of $15.00 US. Click here for more information on using digital certificates with ecBuilder.
Important Note
After obtaining a merchant account and a digital certificate, the merchant must set up the gateway profile in Maximizer. The merchant must then provide the site builder with the payment gateway and digital certificate parameters by exporting the information from Maximizer in the form of a .cfg file. This functionality allows Web merchants to setup these parameters themselves without needing to use the ecBuilder software.
Processing Large Catalogs
When you try to process an ecBuilder file containing a large catalog, a computer system with the minimum system requirements may not be sufficient. The amount of available physical memory is important for processing such large catalogs (typically larger than 500 items). If the available memory resource is low, the operating system may start using your hard drive disk space as the secondary memory resource. This will causing significant slow-down in the generation of the output HTML files..
As an example, a typical 1500 item catalog may take up to 500 Mbytes of memory on the system, and it will take between one and two hours to generate the Web site on a system with 500+ Mbytes of physical memory. The memory requirements will need to proportionally scale up as the size of your catalog gets larger.
